Description
Ailey II, a New York based company with Central Texas roots, will perform at the Cultural Activities Center February, 25, at 7:30PM Alvin Ailey, the founder of this popular modern dance company, was born in 1931 in Rogers Texas. He created Ailey II in 1974 which flourished under the direction of Sylvia Waters for nearly 40 years. With current Artistic Director Troy Powell at the helm, Ailey II continues to thrive as he brings a fresh dimension to this beloved company.. The 12 Ailey II dancers are invigorating the American dance scene and will be performing three world premiers along with Alvin Ailey's timeless classic, Revelations.. Ailey II first performed in Temple 29 years ago on October 19, 1987, and their last visit was in 2008.
